Terhune I think did always think you were too much of a
bellyacher & complainer -- thanatoid! And I'm going to put
a line to that effect in his obituary!

I doubt he will be happy with my nym appearing in his obituary.

Sort of avoiding the issue I raised as well, aren't you?

I think he appreciated humor &/or he was proud of his orneriness. He
once objected when I said he was LESS ornery! Either way, I'm good, I
think. That other guy might be in bad taste - yea, sure.

I see no evidence of jokes or bad taste. Perhaps dadiOH and hemeroid
would like to point them out.

And besides, Gary could have always chosen to post under an alias if
he
wanted. What expectation of privacy do you have when you're not
trying
to hide your identity?

No one knows where he is

I believe I posted sufficient evidence to the contrary.

The entire thread is in bad taste, is in fact despicable. Doing an
online search and then posting a phone number that may or may not be
Gary's is beyond bad taste by quite a bit. You apparently value no
one's privacy but your own. Now we will likely be treated to an
abusive discourse by you on how *you* know how to protect your
privacy, and if someone else didn't plan in advance for it, then they
deserve to have their privacy invaded by mean-spirited people such as
yourself. When Gary and countless others were posting here with our
real names and email addresses for quite a number of years, in order
to further help the, at that time, sincere group of folks posting,
the Internet was a far different place and privacy was not a large
concern. We took private emails for extra help as a matter of
course. You were nowhere to be seen, you were not here helping
anyone, all through the late 1990's and very early 2000's.
Once contact info is available, it remains. That doesn't require you
to post other's personal info here, except to be a mean-spirited
person.

It is just this sort of talking-behind-someone's-back thread and all
the references to someone's death when there is no evidence of it,
that has dragged this once-helpful group down into a sewer of
personal attacks.

The comments made in these threads about Gary, about "God's
intentions", and the attempted humour the idea of Gary's death, I
find personally offensive to the extreme. Having dealt with the
deaths of three of the closest people in my life in the past year,
one of them horribly tragic, I can only find the whole lot of you,
and your comments, sickening. You are a bunch of spoiled and cruel
children.

I am done with this group, and good riddance.

I never meant to be mean-spirited in my participation in some of that.
Terhune -- you know -- actually DID argue quite hard with many -- & he
could properly be descibed to be ornery at his hardest. But I wish you
would stay!

Actually, he made a lot of good - and substantive - contributions to the

I don't remember such orneriness, except perhaps in the last year or two,
when his health was failing.

Since he's said that, there seems little point in posting a followup
(only) here. Having said that, I've I think posted such followups
myself!

You spend more time posting to XP newsgroups anyways, so it's obvious
that you're leaving more because of your interest in XP. You can
pretend it's because of some other reason if you want. And take your
high horse with you.

It was a bit strong, but perhaps provoked. Anyway, let's all calm down -
although we don't agree on some aspects of the legitimacy of
copying/piracy/whatever, the 98 Guy I know isn't normally the above one,
but one I consider a useful contributor to this 'group, and with whom I
normally agree. If he's truly gone (and he has made useful contributions
in the past), there's no point continuing to answer his points.

FWIW: When Gary's mental health deteriorated and he started insulting
people and swearing rather profusely I filed a complaint with the MVP
organization and stated that Gary was not worthy of being an MVP

I stated here that they pulled his MVP status...as his name was removed
from the MVP list.

IIRC it was "Glee" who requested that I send him copies of my
correspondence with the MVP org. I refused to do so and told him that no
matter how disgusted I was with Gary I had no intention of revealing the
contents of a *private* matter.

Glen (glee) is an MVP. Doesn't he have access to what-ever you wrote
about Gary?

Couldn't Glen have written his own submission supporting Gary? Wouldn't
it carry more weight (with Glen being an MVP and you not) ?

Oh, btw - hi Glen.
