Default '98 computer won't access internet

Computer 1 is an HP Pavilion running winXP home edition with cable
internet access via D-Link DI-514 wireless Router. Computer 2 is an
Ispirati 2000 running win 98 SE.
No problem with comp 1 i-net connection, no trouble with comp 1 and
comp2 interraction, can view and share files in both directions.
However trying to access Internet from comp 2 results in a "cannot
find server" message followed by the " application has committed an
illegal action and will be shut down" What could be the problem, I had
the network working fine for a while but now???? Any suggestions would
be welcome.

Thanks for the response Carey. Tried two of the tools but both
returned 'no problems to fix' ????
