cannot install nero cd burning software

when i attempt to load this software, i am told that
someof my files need updating would i like to restart the
computer for them to be updated. this is done and in
rebooting the ms windows 98se error message tells me that
i must get my files updated and then to try again the
installation.

i have updated all the critical and check daily for any
other updates. i am still unable to comply with this
message so that i can load the software to my cd burner.
i have gone to nero and updated the verson.
i have looked for drivers, but i don't know what i am
looking for there.\\
any idea of what might be happening here.,

i reformated my c: driver recently and this has not wanted
to load since i have done this. all other software seem
to load without a problem

Installer errors are usually fixed by updating the Windows Installer and/or
installing DCOM98.

Update the Windows Installer:
