Default Ghost Restore Sets REadOnly Bit

Probably a list of the files with the System attribute would do it.
Something like dir /as

Of course the Read Only files can be changed at will by programs.

Glad to hear it.

I will be installing a new Win98 system next week Second Edition with all
the Updates, and I'll be sure to remember to get that list of default file
attributes for you, even create the batch file I was talking about to revert
the ones that are supposed to be Read Only back to their proper state.

Only close to the correct NG for this but......

I did a format and reinstall using Ghost2003. W98se runs OK and some
apps run fine, others won't run.
Most of the files were restored with the R (REadOnly) bit set. Now
it's a windows or DOS maneuver to restore the archive bit to
essentially a whole drive worth of files.
The Ghost Help file doesn't address the problem that I have found.
The backup CDR is error free.
Suggestions welcomed.

You can clear the read only attribute from all files on the
C:\drive.

From DOS enter:
attrib -r C:\*.* /s

Or for a folder and its sub folders:
attrib -r C:\Myfolder\*.* /s

/S Processes files in all directories in the specified path.

From DOS enter Attrib /? for info.

Thanks. Took about a minute!
Re-reading the Ghost .pdf manual uncovers not a word on this. Any OT
thoughts on how to prevent another occurance?

Best,

Dick
