Default MS PS/2 Intellipoint Mouse v4.10 'Sticks' or 'Halts'

Hi,

I Googled this and didn't find much.

New install of OEM Win98SE on a Toshiba Satellite 1605CDS laptop. I read
where someone was told to look for updated drivers for their video card to
solve the mouse-sticking issue. The laptop has a ATI Rage LT Pro graphics
controller (not really a card?) and 4..0 MB integrated video memory.

Does anyone know if the mouse 'sticking' problem is solved by updating the
mouse driver? I found an updated driver for the mouse (IP4_12EngALLMsi.exe),
but hesitate to install it in case it causes more problems. One can't
uninstall drivers in Win98SE (like they can in WinXP) if they make things
worse, correct? I currently have v4.10. The updated mouse driver is v4.12.

Your thoughts please?
Thanks
Cheryl
