Default INSTALL Windows 98 on Flash Drive

I cannot run my all time favorite computer game " THE DAME WAS LOADED"

http://www.mobygames.com/game/dame-was-loaded

Is it possible to install either WIN 98 or maybe MS DOS which is all
this game needs on a flash drive?. I already have 2 hard drives in my
computer. The slave drive is to hold MP3s and such.

I think it might be possible to do; however, I don't know how you would get
it to boot. What system are you running--XP? If so, have you tried running
the game in compatibility mode?

Running XP PRO on a Gateway E4100. Yes I have tried compatibility
mode?. This game pre-dates Windows 98 even. It needs DOS.

Sounds like you should be asking in an XP group how to run this DOS game under XP.

Do you have a floppy drive?

HP has a utility to make most pen drives bootable. Search for SP27213.

The computer itself must have USB boot as a bios option. I have MSDOS 7.1
(from Windows 98SE) and Windows 3.11 on a 512 MB Sandisk pen drive and it
boots fine on computers with USB boot capability.

I should note that making a generic pen drive bootable is a finicky process.
The HP utility would not run on my Win98 machine but worked fine on a
Win2000 machine. The drive would not boot if loaded with MSDOS 6.22 files
but worked ok with MSDOS 7.1.

Some pen drive manufacturers provide boot programs - Transcend does for
their Jetflash series.

Did run across the question a few times at such. Mentioned was an MS
emulation program that ran in XP. You need lots of RAM.

Virtual PC - it can run just about any x86 operating system, including *nix,
DOS, and Win9x (or win 2.0!)

Hello:

Thanks for the Link !. This DOS emulator works fairly well but had some
bugs. I could not save games and when It came time to insert the 2nd CD
in the game it would not work. Else really good.
