Windows 98 Installation Error
I am currently trying to install windows 98 onto my hard drive bcuz a virus
like i've never seen erased both of my hard drives. I have formatted both drives and attempted to reinstall windows 98. I don't know whether my processor has gone dead on me, but every time it gets past the Scandisk Tests and comes to "Please wait while Setup Initializes..... Scanning System Registry.... Copying Files needed for windows Setup" it freezes there. Is my processor shot or am I just doing something wrong? not to mention my memory went from 96 MB to 63 MB at the boot up screen. This is annoying. Someone please help me!!!! |

Windows 98 Installation Error
Did you disable any anti virus protection in the BIOS? It looks like you
have a 64 mb and 32 mb DIMM installed. Check the 32 mb stick and make sure it is securely seated. If it is, remove it and see if that makes a difference. You can also copy the Win98 folder from your CD to the hard drive and then try installing W98 from there. -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo "Setalone" wrote in message ... Windows 98 Installation Error
okay, a tip...a s far as your memory, switch them around
(if you have 2 or more sticks) and see fi your problem persists. you're processor most likely did not die, the windows cd's are known for having installation freezes. Afew tips, 1) try to go to were u were before when it froze, let it sit over night, if there is no change, after setup.exe add these marks. (to skip the scandisk check, as you probaly know your hardrive is good) add this mark: /iq so it should look like thisx equals your cdrom drive) x:\stup.exe/iq or x:\setup.exe /iq (either way it should matter) Good luck, i hope this helped you.
