Can't Uninstall TweakUI v1.33 - Add/Remove Programs Listing Gone

I've Googled this and am still searching...

Fresh install of Win98SE on a Toshiba laptop (new in 2000).

Downloaded and installed TweakUI v1.33 for Win98SE on a laptop. When
immediately rebooting, a black screen appeared with 7-8 thin lines/dots at
the most top-left corner of the screen. This was not the usual blinking
cursor I had expected to see. Waited a few minutes and nothing happened.
Figured the system had froze. Unplugged the power, popped the battery.
Reconnected and powered on. Windows booted into safe mode. Figuring TweakUI
was the problem, while still in safe mode, went to Add/Remove Programs to
uninstall it. Clicked on its listing and hit Add/Remove. The listing
disappeared but nothing else happened. Closed this window and rebooted. Had
to change the display settings back to normal and reboot again.

TweakUI is still installed (appears in Control Panel and launches) but now
there is no listing for it in Add/Remove Programs. I want this software off
the laptop. Can you tell me how to do this now? I suspect I need to
reinstall TweakUI to get it listed in Add/Remove Programs again, but
hesitate to do so because of what happened the first time. Any ideas,
please?

Sorry, but just one more question on this one. A search found it in
C:\Windows\System and in this folder C:\unzipped\tweakui. Do I simply delete
the tweakui folder, too?

Thanks for the prompt reply. You're a peach. I wasn't sure if it was somehow
tied to the file in C:\Windows\System. Apparently, it's just an installation
folder. :-)

Okay, now on reboot (twice so far) I get this error message:

X Error loading TWEAKUI.CPL
The system cannot find the file specified. OK

Do I need to edit the registry? If so, I can do this. What do I look search
in the Registry Editor?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

Right click and delete the tweak entry

You go to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run
The entry to remove is:
"Tweak UI"="RUNDLL32.EXE TWEAKUI.CPL,TweakMeUp"
