Default Compatible flash drive

I'm looking for a flash drive that is compatible with Windows 98. I have
found ones that work with Win98SE, but haven't had any luck finding one that
will work with my old system. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

You probably won't find one. Windows 98 had very limited USB support,
Windows 98SE included much improved USB support.

Your problem is that Win98 was issued with USB version 1
but USB version 2 superseded it within weeks, therefore
Win98SE was issued afresh with USB.v.2. Nowadays in
the stores a very small number of USB devices advertise
themselves as backwards compatible e.g. Creative Labs
Zen Nano Plus MP3 player:

but since USB.v.2 is now the standard most USB
devices have no such guarantee.

In post-Xmas sales you may well find a USB.v.2 flash
drive so cheap that you could afford to upgrade as well
to Win98SE -- and then any other USB devices (e.g.
printers) would become available as well.

Making sure you have a USB 2.0 adapter or onboard support first [the
adapters are cheap] and Win98SE.
