Windows ME recognises 40GB as a 2GB hdd
Hey all,
I'm in a forum, and someone has a prob with WindowsME recognising a 40GB as a 2 GB hdd. The BIOS sees the whole 40 GB. So why cant WindowsME? Its only seeing 2GB of this hdd. The person has tried using FDISK, but this didnt work. It's still 2 GB. Its formatted in FAT32. Any ideas on how to get WinME to recognise the full 40GB? Any info / links appreciated Thanx |

Your friend used FDISK, and didn't notice teh question at the bottom of the
page when it opens - 'Do you want to enable Large disk support' - they should have answered Yes to that question. (either than, or they were using a Win95 boot disk, with not FAT32 support) -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2006, Windows) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.crashfixpc.com/millsrpch.htm http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's "Paul" wrote in message ... Thanx for the info guys.
Looks like she used Seagate Discwizard, which fixed the prob. "Noel Paton" wrote in message ...
