MSOE.DLL
Just a guess, but, I think that you may have your OE on the second machine
set to automatically check for email and download it if there. If that is the case, then it would have the mail from the server and it would not be available to the other machine. In the case of the Yahoo! mail, if I am not mistaken, this is a Web based mail server and even though you read the mail, it remains on the server unless you specifically delete it and, even then, it remains in the "trash" folder until you clean that out. I think Noel, Mike or both, kinda covered that. Basically, with the Yahoo! mail, you are simply 'reading' the mail on the server....the other mail is actually being downloaded off of the server. Does that make sense?......I know I am confused! Heirloom, old and speculating "webster72n" wrote in message ... The issue is, that my email for Outlook Express for the most part gets delivered to my backup pc, when I expect to find the same thing in both computers, since they both have the same version of Outlook Express (5.0) or, at least in my main computer with Windows ME, because I do all of my business there. This is the case when it comes to News Groups, but not with my personal mail. Could it be because I changed my my ID not too long ago? Or is it just a matter of configuration? What are your thoughts on that, heirloom? Harry. "heirloom" wrote in message ... I'm not sure that I understand your issue with the email......are you using two different addresses? My picture of the situation is that you would fire up your Me machine and simply download your email........I am sure I must be missing something. Please expound...... Heirloom, old and glad I only have one to contend with "webster72n" wrote in message ... heirloom, My problem was solved a lot easier than thought. I went to IESetup and chose to install Outlook Express. It told me that all necessary components were already installed and whether I wanted to reinstall anyway. Of course I answered "yes" to that and - low and behold - after automatic reboot I tried Outlook Express and it worked just fine again. Hope to remember this time and maybe even help sombody else in trouble. There is just one more thing: I am running these two computers with the same Outlook Express version, but Windows ME on my main and windows 98 on my backup computer. But most of my eimail in Outlook Express goes to my backup pc, which I don't like. Is there a way to fix this? Or should I post this as a new subject? Let me know, please. Thanks. Harry. "heirloom" wrote in message ... You'll find (quickly) that you need a lot more than me.......I'm just one of the elves that like to help the gurus when I can. The gurus are what make this such a great NG!! Heirloom, old and do what I can "webster72n" wrote in message ... Thanks so much, heirloom. I'll be on my way now. Must be getting old, or something. Should have known the connection to Internet Explorer. I am just mighty glad to have people like you so near to help with my computer problems. Thanks for being there. Harry. "heirloom" wrote in message ... http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-US;oex Hey Harry, The above URL is the MS site for info on all things OE........you may find what you need there. BTW, I just went to the Tomsterdam site.....no probs. Heirloom, old and too tired to ride "webster72n" wrote in message ... I think that's where I found out that the site is currently unavailable, heirloom, the site where manual un- and reinstall of OE is explained. When all is said and done, evrything is going to be back to normal, I am sure of that. Harry. "heirloom" wrote in message ... Harry, I may be mistaken, but, I believe the Tomsterdam site goes into the process of uninstalling and reinstalling OE. If you don't find it first, I will do some checking when I have a chance and let you know. Heirloom, old and been busy today "webster72n" wrote in message ... No need to be sorry, Joan. You have been quite helpful and the site you mention is almost indispensible. Thank you very much for your contribution. Harry. "Joan Archer" wrote in message ... Sorry Harry can't help you there just that the subject line is one that I have saved with Mike's answer, so you might have to wait for Heirloom to get back or one of the gurus to help out. I suppose you could have a look at the site below and see if there's anything there to help. Joan http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/tips/ webster72n wrote: Joan: As we talk about this subject, I am recalling to have done this before, except for backing up the OE data. How do you back up what doesn't show up? Harry. "Joan Archer" wrote in message ... See if anything here helps courtesy of MikeM. Joan There are a number of possibilities which include: MS KB 296512 - "OLEXP: Error Message: Outlook Express Could Not Be Started Because Msoe.dll Could Not Be Loaded" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=296512) where the problem is due to problems with the Address Book. MS KB 272265 - "OLEXP: Error Message "Outlook Express Could Not Be Started Because MSOE.DLL Could Not Be Loaded" When You Start Outlook Express" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=272265) where the problem is caused by mixed file versions MS KB 232480 - "OLEXP: Error Message: Outlook Express Could Not Be Started Because MSOE.DLL Could Not Be Loaded" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=232480) where the problem, similar to the one above, is due to uninstalling a later version of IE/OE. In addition you may also want to look at the following KB article although the error message here is slightly different in that it normally reads ""Outlook Express could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialised" and the problem here is due to the Identities key in the registry being corrupted in some way such 245419 - "OLEXP: You Receive an Error Message or Are Unable to Start Outlook Express" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=245419). -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP webster72n wrote: heirloom: I reinstalled the address book, but the dialog box still remains. I was able to download "msoe.dll" on a floppy disk. How do i get it where it's supposed to go? It seems to me that I had this trouble before and somehow found a way to resolve it. Just don't remember how or what I did. Do you have any suggestions? |
