Default home networking help

i have three computers and they were all working through
ics then i decided to get a router which didn't work out
well so i tried to go back to ics. i have tried the
setting all different ways including switching to xp and
formattign my hard drive and still nothing. i can ping my
own adapter and the second adapter but that's as far as i
can go. can anyone tell me what is wrong? thanks
