Default Reinstall problem

Ive just reformatted my Hard drive and and having problems
reinstalling 98SE. I can make it was far as when it does
scan disk then it says copying files needed for windows or
something like that. Then the screen goes blank and it
takes me back to a dos prompt. Any body knows why or how
to fix it?

Try following the procedures here and use the "is" switch (setup.exe /is) to
bypass the scandisk check.

If you still have problems, provide specific details including any error
messages. Make sure any anti virus check in the BIOS is disabled before
trying the install.

The setup.ee/is did not work it still did the scandisk and
took me back to the dos prompt. The dos prompt is
different than it usually is though. Its smaller, darker
and does not have a blinking little marker.

Default Reinstall problem

Try running setup with the "/c" switch.

setup /c

If this doesn't help, try removing and reseating the RAM modules.
