Default Control Panel slow

When I open Control Panel, it takes up to a minute for it to open.
Other programs open fast.

Win 98, AVG, no spyware

Any ideas

Thanks

As an experiment, move everything in My Documents to a new folder on the
desktop. Did that help? If so, find a new home for everything you moved.

If not, try this: create two new folders on the desktop. Move half the
..cpl files from the control panel folder to a new folder. Move all but one
of the remaining half to the other new folder. Try the control panel--is it
faster? If so, move back one half the files. If still fast, then move
everything back to the empty new folder and move the other half of the files
to the control panel. Is it slow? If so, remove one .cpl file at a time
and see if you can find what is slowing the panel down.
