Default Microsoft Window Installer and ME

I just bought norton antivirus 2004 and when I begin to
load it, a message appears telling me I must
install "Microsoft Window Installer" to install this
symantec product.

I allow it to automatically install, but then stops with
the following error message:

"Setup was unable to update the MSI System comonent."

I went to the support folder and found the file that is
supposed to support win98 ME (InstMsiA.exe)and it begins,
but stops, due to the following message:

Could not open key:
HKey_local_Machines\Software\Windows\Current
Version\Installer\Folders.
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key.

as Ihave no clue what thaat means, I am stuck, and have no
virus scan software running.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

DT

Win 98 Me? Which operating system is this? One you coded yourself? g
There is no such beast, there is Win 98, Win 98SE and Win Me but no Win 98 Me.

NAV2004. Note that this software is problematic at most and causes immense
problems regardless of the operating system on which the user attempts to
install this application/malware. IOW, NAV2004 causes far more problems to
the user than any it might purport to prevent.

As for your problem, if you really want to cripple your system by installing
this software then I would urge you to contact Symantec for assistance. It's
their program and you have paid real money to them for which they have a duty
to provide you with support. Alternatively take my advice and that of many
others and return the software and demand your money back on the grounds that
the software is not fit for the purpose for which you purchased it and that
Symantec are guilty of misrepresenting that it is compatible with the Win Me
operating system (or to be honest any operating system).
