Try running a repair on Internet Explorer:

Click StartRun, type the following and click Enter, for IE6x:
RUNDLL32 SETUPWBV.DLL,IE6Maintenance

Choose the Repair option, and continue.

If the repair says it cannot complete, or it does not fix the problem, reinstall
Internet Explorer:

I have tried to repair the IE Explorer by going to
Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel and reboted the
machine on completion, the same problem persists when I
click either the window explorer icon in the task bar or
in the start/program.

Should I reinstall the IE 6.0 ?

Please help

Reinstalling IE is an option, but I cannot tell from here if it is the key to your
problem. First, check for malwa

Update your anti-virus app and then run a full-system virus scan.

Use CWShredder, the CoolWeb removal tool, available he

Close all browser windows and open apps, start CWShredder and click the Fix button.

Install Ad-Aware SE free edition, start it, click its 'Check for Updates' link in
the app to install updates, then use it to scan your system, and remove what it

If you find your system is clean and you still have the problem, then try the IE
reinstall. Follow this procedure for any install, reinstall or uninstall of IE:

Reboot.

Open the Temp folder and delete all Temp files:
-Click StartRun, type %temp% and click OK.

In fact, I have checked with PC-cllin 2004 and Adware S2
and running its add-ons including LSP Explorer and VX2
Cleaner and found that it was clean. Would the LSP
explorer cause the problem?

Now when I clicked Start/Settings/Control Panel , I have
to wait about more than 1.5 minutes for the Control Panel
window starting. And sometimes it even hangs !!

Any advice? Please help

Sorry for the delay getting back to you......does the problem still occur if you

to
Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel and

reboted
the
machine on completion, the same problem persists

when I
click either the window explorer icon in the

task bar
or
in the start/program.

Should I reinstall the IE 6.0 ?

Try running a repair on Internet Explorer:

Click StartRun, type the following and click

Enter,
for
IE6x:
RUNDLL32 SETUPWBV.DLL,IE6Maintenance

Choose the Repair option, and continue.

If the repair says it cannot complete, or it

does
not
fix the problem, reinstall

Thank you for your advice and help.

Restart in Ms-Dos Mode
From C:\ (type and press Enter after each command)

cd\windows
smartdrv
deltree tempor~1
deltree history
deltree temp

Restart (Ctrl-Alt-Del)

Note: The paths above are used for examples only, the

exact location may vary on
different systems.
If your Temporary Internet Files, History and Temp

folders are in different
locations than C:\Windows, you must change the paths to

the folders in the commands
above, to match the locations on your machine.

I haven't start the machine in safe mode as the problem
did not occur so frequently as before after repairing

the
IE 6.0 by Start/Control Panel/Inernet Setting...

But the problem still occur when I right-click the IE

icon
and click on the general tab to clear the history, it
takes more than i minunte to finish and sometimes it in
fact did not clear all the records in history.

Please help

Sorry for the delay getting back to you......does the
problem still occur if you
start in Safe Mode, or when you do a clean boot?

To start in Safe Mode:
-Start the computer and hold down the CTRL key till

the
Windows 98 Startup menu
(boot menu) appears.
-Use the arrow keys to select "Safe Mode" and press

Enter.

In fact, I have checked with PC-cllin 2004 and

Adware S2
and running its add-ons including LSP Explorer and

VX2
Cleaner and found that it was clean. Would the LSP
explorer cause the problem?

Now when I clicked Start/Settings/Control Panel , I

have
to wait about more than 1.5 minutes for the Control
Panel
window starting. And sometimes it even hangs !!

Any advice? Please help

Reinstalling IE is an option, but I cannot tell

from
here if it is the key to your
problem. First, check for malwa

its 'Check for Updates' link in
the app to install updates, then use it to scan

your
