WindowsMe is based on the Windows 9x operating system kernel (Windows
95/98/98SE/Me family) and cannot directly use NTFS hard drives.

You will have to remain with FAT32 on the drive unless or until you
upgrade to Windows XP.

NTFS does offer some advantages compared to FAT32, especially in the
area of stability and self-repair capabilities. However there is a
bit of a downside in that there is not much available in the way of
repair or recovery utilities should disaster strike. So with NTFS you
are much less likely to have a problem, but if you do have one then it
is much more difficult to recover files from a crashed/smashed/trashed
NTFS partition.

Hope this explains the situation.

Good luck

WindowsME doesn't do NTFS at all.

There is a third-party program that allows reading (but not writing) of
NTFS volumes in Win9x.
