Default While initializing device NDIS: Windows protection error

Dear all,
I am trying to install Win98 ( First edition )on a
Pentium 4 2.7 Ghz machine
with 256 MB DDR Ram, i am getting the " Error
Initializing
NDIS " error message, which has been referred in KB
312108.

"312108) - When you are installing Windows 95 or Windows
98 on a computer that has a CPU that runs at 2.2
gigahertz (GHz) or faster, you may receive the following
error message: While initializing device NDIS: Windows
protection error"

Would highly appreciate if any one can let me know the
solution for this, some old softwares required Win98 .

expecting a response
regards
Garb

The article is rather short, and it outlines the solution quite clearly.

Hi Garb,
If you re-read the MS article, it tells you to contact MS for the hotfix.
If you call MS, mention the article and your situation, *without asking for
anything else*, MS should supply it to you at no charge. But please, don't
request any additional assistance in that phone call.
HTH,

I would suggest that you upgrade to Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition.
The patch is already provided in this version. Also, you will have USB 2.0
support which Windows 98 First Edition does not support. This route is be
cheaper than upgrading or replacing your computer and you should have a
computer that is modern enough to run 98SE. Finally, many new programs
require 98SE as their minimum supported operating system.
