Default Cleaning the Registry ??

Dear Newsgroup,

I use Windows 98 SE and was wondering about whether I should be cleaning my
Registry? I use Norton Anti-Virus, Ad-aware, Spy-bot S&D, Zone Alarm and
was wondering if I should be cleaning my Registry? I once used a software
from Microsoft called RegClean, but I no-lomger have it.

Should I clean my Registry?

Thanks.

There is an excellent Registry cleaner which is free and is called
RegCleaner and another free one called EasyCleaner .
Google for them is you wish.
Some say that using a Registry cleaner can cause more problems than it
can help.
If you don't want to use a Registry cleaner, you can go to the command
prompt ( from the StartUp menu and choose "Command Prompt Only") and
type smrtdrv and press Enter (enables smartdrive to make
things go a little quicker)
Then at the C:\ prompt type and run this command three times in a row
scanreg /opt /fix .(run the program three times in a row, not type
the command three times in a row)
The /fix command fixes some errors in the Registry and the /opt
command compresses the Registry to eliminate the empty spaces, as far
as I know.
