i create a new folder

now comparing the icons listed in the Explorer (about100) and the
ones displayed on the Desktop (about 80)

i manually transferred the 20 i was able to see in Explorer
in this newly folder

then extracted again these 20 icons (one by one) on a visible portion of
the Desktop

Glad it worked out. Now get that small utility!

note:
another possible reason that caused the problem,
was the use of the "Align to grid" command
(i presume that in English the name of the command
is this or a similar one):
so doing, when you have many icons, some of them will go outside Desktop
boundaries

As a fellow "crowded-desktop" 98-er, I have found that align_to_grid
doesn't push icons beyong the right edge of the screen unless there
are no other holes. BUT starting in safe mode is guaranteed to cause
desktop chaos.

Now Right Hand click on Taskbar

Click on add a new Tool Bar
Choose that Folder you made
And Clock OK!
