How to install WIN 98 after XP

... glee wrote: "philo" wrote in message ... glee wrote: from Doug's Windows 95/98/Me/XP/Vista Tweaks and Tips http://www.dougknox.com/ Install 98/Me After XP is Installed - http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_repair_9x.htm Won't work the OP specifically stated XP is on an NTFS partition I gave him an alternative reply on on another group Sorry about your reading impediment! It specifically states on Doug's web page: If your C: drive is not FAT or FAT32, you CANNOT complete this procedure. You will need a 3rd party boot manager. I recommend BootIt Next Generation, www.bootitng.com Apparently you did not read past that first line. A third-party boot manager is one obvious way to do what Drazen wants. Or is that for some reason not a satisfactory alternative to you?? Drazen also specifically mentioned the possibility of re-doing his partitions so that C: *would* be FAT32. Correct third party boot manager was already suggested Yes, by me. The only other recommendation of that I see was by Don, who posted after I posted. What are you now, the post cop? Or just becoming a full-time troll? Go find something useful to do instead of trolling. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Oct. 2002 - Sept. 2009 A+ http://dts-l.net/ |

I'm sure someone posted about 3rd party boot managers 5 years ago, in some other thread in another group also. So what? It is not part of this thread and relevant. Kindly stop trolling. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Oct. 2002 - Sept. 2009 A+ http://dts-l.net/ |

How to install WIN 98 after XP (another idea)

Instead, install it into a virtual machine using the Microsoft VM -- Jeff Richards ---------------------------------------- I re-read the original post and see the OP wants to use Win98 to run diagnostic software to test older H/W so even though running win98 in a virtual machine is not a bad idea, it really won't work to do what the OP wants... a win98 native install would be needed In addition to the good suggestion of using a 3rd party boot manager there is one other possibility... and that is simply installing Win98 on another drive entirely then selecting which drive to boot from in the bios... *providing of course the bios has that capability* To avoid a possible disaster I'd disconnect the XP drive while performing the installation of win98 |
