What do you see under CD-ROM devices and IDE controllers in the Device
Manager? [Control Panel | System | Device Manager].

I had problems with my computer not detecting my cdrom.I
heard that it will not run as a slave.I checked in my bios
setup and sure enough,it was under secondary slave.I
changed it to secondary master and changed slave to not
installed.It now works fine.

Hi there,

I have been having the same problem my CD-ROM drive not
working after installing WindowsME. It is listed in my
Bios setup, how did you go about changing it to a
secondary master or for that fact know it was under
secondary slave? I have gotten a lot of confusing advice
in postings. Hope you can help thanks

Shelly

Shelly,

You've been told again and again that your problem is due to your secondary
controller not being configured correctly. That you choose to ignore that
advice or don't understand what you have been told doesn't mean that it is
either incorrect or confusing. You've also been advised to seek professional
technical help since you seem unwilling or unable to follow the suggestions
that have been repeatedly posted here over the last week.

Well Mike you're right you have given me advice and I have
followed most of the advice. But he said he was able to
change it from his Secondary to his master and that's what
I was asking how he did it. I wasn't ignoring your help or
advice or anyone else's. I have tried just about all the
advice on here that I was able to do or understand. And
obviously I'm not the only one having a problem since
there has been three or four other postings with the same
issue. I appreciate your help and everyone's help.
