You have a new problem. Since you posted your email address in this public
forum, you are likely to get tons of spam and emails with a virus attached.

Go to the Norton web site and check for removal instructions.

Dear Community,

My e-mail address is

I have a rudimentary understanding of computers, at best.

I am experiencing a difficulty with my computer. Often
times the operating system will stop working: my cursor
will just not move for many seconds to minutes and then
run again for a time. Recently, I am being disconnected
from my ISP at times while these pauses or interruptions
are taking place.

My OS is Windows98 with a 386 processor, a system which I
have had since 1999 and now with this recent problem. The
computer is an IBM Aptiva system.

I have managed to download a most recent update for Norton
AntiVirus and run this on the computer. Scanning all
files, there was one virus found -- W32.Netsky.D@mm in a
file named WINDOWS\winlogon.exe

I did not delete this file and was not able to quarantine
the file. (The system would not allow quarantine.) In
writing this note, the pausing has occurred about seven
times.

I have located this file through FIND and tried to open
it, without success.

How do I remedy this difficulty? (Rid my system of the
virus while maintaining operational integrity otherwise?)

Thank you for your most kind consideration. I very much
appreciate your help.

Richard
