can't get rid of Smartsearch
I have developed a Trojan apparently such that everytime I
open my internet browser, it defaults to the SmartSearch page and I cannot find a way to rid myself of this awful problem. All the solutions I have found on the internet and tried have failed to this point. As a last resort, I decided to try and reload my operating system and go through the process of downloading all the updates to rejuvenate it to a more current and proper status. Even that effort has met with difficulty since the reload process is asking for a product id #, which when i supply the one I have, doesn't completely fill the spaces provided in the Product Key thereby bringing everything to a screaming halt. Can anyone out there offer suggestions for a work around these problems?? Thanks, Don |

LuckyStrike is back in the house and bowls another strike. LOL
"LuckyStrike" om wrote in message ... Don - What Internet solutions had you sought out for your SmartSearch problem. Had you obtained and installed CWShredder and SmartSearch (variant) killer? If not, in the future (when you can) try these: SmartSearch Killer www.safer-networking.org/files/delcwssk.zip CWShredder http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4086.html Productkey and productID are listed in the Registry under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion. I don't know if you can get that far with your current situation being what it is. Perhaps you should have come to the newsgroup first before you went to the drastic measure of re-installing your OS. :-| -- LuckyStrike -------------------------------------------------------------------- "Don" wrote in message ...
