Default clearing TIME_WAIT - how?

Go for it Figgy Dearest! And Joannie Baby too!

Helps if you've got someone to do it for.

I got to where I liked the period of clarity so much - after something like
3 to 7 hours - I almost got hooked on quitting!

Fantastic, Joanie!! You will find they work ever so much better than
the lozenges (ugh) or the gum.

You've got to chew it right, Figgs. Not like Wrigleys! :-)

The major problem with that is that I hate chewing gum and never do...puts
my "teeth on edge" as the saying goes.

The point of the gum is it addresses the main reason for the addiction
far better than patches can, because the delivery is periodic, not
continuous - like with smoking. With patches you lose the rush and it's
that loss that leads to constant stress and ultimate failure. Otherwise
you're really addressing habits such as having something in your hand and
sucking (God, I hope 'Loom isn't reading this or we'll be straight back
in the gutter!).

ROFL!! Lollipops/suckers were considered.

If you've been trying to quit for years it implies the form of your
addiction is specifically to the drug and - if you chew it as directed -
the gum is the most likely NRT to address the sudden, overpowering
craving that eventually wears you down.

The patch is working extremely well......no overpowering urges, just the
odd time I miss having a smoke. But that passes in seconds. As the
booklet said, the urge will pass in the same amount of time "whether you
smoke or ignore it"

The main thing is that one has to reach the point where they truly want to
quit....and I have. For many silly little reasons besides the health
aspect. Stinky house, etc. I intend to make it this time and Elayne is
laughing at me because my basic math was wrong....I have been smoking for
more than 50 years (not 40)...and I am as calm as can be. No bitchies
here, which amazes Ron.

I'm doing better with the patches than I did with the lozenges, they made
me feel ill, felt as if they were burning my mouth and kept feeling sick.
The box said that the initial treatment was to take at least 9 a day but
no more than 15, I only had 3 the first day and 4 the next and couldn't
cope with them, it would have been more pleasant to smoke than take them
g

I can't use the gum as false teeth and gum don't mix g

I'm determined this time to succeed though and as no one else smokes in
the house and any visitors we have don't I wont have the temptation, plus
I don't go anywhere like the pub or such to set me off g

As for Loom reading that post he's probably still laughing too much to
come up with a reply yet g

LOL!! Hey, old timer, there are a few of us old holdouts giving up the
weed this month. Pure chance. I talked my neighbour into doing it and
then there is myself and Joanie, and Noel will not be far behind. We
will be so pure, no one will recognize us, grin.

I have such a horrible bug of some kind that smoking is the last thing I
would touch! I think it has to be a strain of influenza that they
didn't put in the flu shot. Man....I am s-i-c-k!! Even lost my
voice.....Ron was thrilled!! (G)
