Error messages
I am trying to install a printer driver, but keep getting the message"rundll
has caused an error in setupx.dll". I run a 1Mhz 4 years old Fujitsu. Any assistance would be appreciated. I have recently purchased and run Registry Mechanic with a view to this helping me solve this problem, but to no avail. -- gordon |

Details details details.
Please, as I mentioned in response to your e-mail, you need to post details of the make and model printer, how it is connected to your PC and the source (CD or download, etc) and version of the driver you are trying to install. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Gordon wrote: I am trying to install a printer driver, but keep getting the message"rundll has caused an error in setupx.dll". Thanks again Mike. The printer is an Epson Stylus Photo R300.Connection is
USB. Source is CD, and the software is version 5.41. The error message now reads "setup has caused an error in setupx.dll. Hope this helps -- gordon "Mike M" wrote: Details details details. Thanks,
As it happens I've an R200 but not used with a PC running Win Me. I'll try and see if I can generate a similar error message and if so let you know what might be causing it. If I discover the cause of this error message I'll try and post back tomorrow. At what exact point are you seeing this error message during the driver install. For example what selections did you make at the start of the install. Also do you have any other usb devices and if so do they work correctly? -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Gordon wrote: Thanks again Mike. The error message comes up at the start of the install. I click the ignore
button to carry on with the install but nothing happens. After I close, the installation carries on with the same error occuring ( I click ignore but it does not respond) another two times, 26% through the install, then again at 100%. After closing it says the installation was successful, which it wasnt -- gordon "Mike M" wrote: Thanks, As it happens I've an R200 but not used with a PC running Win Me. Again please if possible answer all my questions. So once again please:
a) What selections did you make at the start of the install? b) Also do you have any other usb devices and if so do they work correctly? It is absolutely essential if you want others to try and help you to provide complete answers as far as you can to their questions. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Gordon wrote: The error message comes up at the start of the install.
