Default usb isn't reading

I can't seem to get the USB to read what I put in it. It kept searching for
a new hardware and when I install it, it still can't find it, what am I
doing wrong?

Use of a USB CD drive requires:
1. Boot without use of that drive
2. Boot process loads (correct) USB drivers
3. The USB CD drive can then be found and
used. (You may need to have a disc in the drive
for the drive itself to be recognized: this is how
my USB card reader works.)
