Default WinME's "Open (File)" List View Default

Whenever WinME's Open (File) dialog-box pops up it invariably defaults to List Folder/File View (see "Open (File) Default List View" below), forcing me to select my preferred Details Folder/File View (see "Open (File) View Selection" below) and then sort by FileType within Folders (see "Open (File) Selected Details View" below) before navigating easily to the file I want to open.

Unlike WinME's "Windows Explorer", which lets me select my preferred Details Folder/File View (sorted by FileType within Folders) and then remembers my selection from then on, WinME's Open (File) dialog-box refuses to remember my selection and infuriatingly defaults back to its List Folder/File View next time it pops up.

Does anyone know if there's a way to get WinME's Open (File) dialog-box to default to my preferred Details Folder/File View (surely the only sensible option for efficient file searches), preferably sorted by FileType within Folders as well?
