Windows Me on Mac?
Hi.
According to Windows Update i'm runnning a Mac and are asked to go to www.microsoft.com/mac According to the computer I'm runnning Windows Me on a Compaq P2 with 128MB ram. I'm using Internet Explorer 6SP1 and have tried to reinstall it. Any suggestion on how to solve this would be nice. Kind regards. Windows Me on Mac?
This problem has been debated at length in this newsgroup and elsewhere
over the last couple of weeks and is due to a problem on the Windows Update servers.. Try clearing your Temporary Internet Files (TIF) and then try accessing the Windows Update site using http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp rather than using the WU link in the start Menu. If that doesn't work, clear your TIF again and also your cookies and then re-try. -- Mike Maltby Lanpower AB wrote: Hi. Windows Me on Mac?
Hello, Lanpower!
I solved the problem by deleting the surplus of "stuff" that had accumulated in my c:\temp directory. That was all. You wrote on Tue, 13 Mar 2007 17:23:32 +0100: LA Hi. Whether you are identified as a Mac or not seems more to be a matter of luck and appears to depend on the server you hit, however clearing out Temp, Temporary Internet Files and even cookies seems to sometime help although none of these seem to allow consistent access. Executives at Microsoft are now aware of the problem, they were not before, as it was brought to their attention yesterday by a number of MVPs visiting Redmond. -- Mike Maltby |
