Which group for .net framework questions?
Hello,
I would like to know as per the subject line. In which group do I ask a question relating to the .net framework? I am posting here, due to this group being the most popular relating to Win98 and General queries on the Microsoft server. OS: win98se - updated. The problem: After installing the .net framework in order to use a program in Win98se. My mouse clicks take longer to register. An example, if I double click the IE icon on my desktop, the clicks fail to register. If however, I single-click to higlight the IE icon. Then double click the icon, I have a 50% chance of it registering and IE opening. Likewise, in Opera or Firefox browsers, or indeed any application ie: Word\Notepad etc. If I wish to highlight text on a page, or Right-Click to access a context menu. The same thing happens, the first click may or may not register, but after about 3 clicks, the command seems to be accepted. My questions: How do I overcome this problem? Thank you! |

I can't answer as to whether some other more specific issue may be involved, but
the .Net Framework adds both a ton of files and a ton of Registry entries to your system. On G.P., I would suggest that you defrag your system, and run the following from a Command Prompt Only startup: smartdrv scanreg /opt /fix Run that last three times. This will compact and streamline your Registry. Additionally, there is the possibility that the Framework is a "straw that broke the camel's back" and you should review your background apps. Only other thing that comes to mind is to check that only one mouse is installed in Safe Mode Device Manager, and perhaps Remove and Reboot to reinstall the existing mouse. I'm not familiar with the Framework to any great extent, and while there are several microsoft.public.dotnet.framework newsgroups, I can't say which one might have any further answer to your question. -- Gary S.
