connections from 46666bps to 33333 bps.
Hi,
I use the dialup method to connect, and have noticed a decrease in connection speed from 46666bps to 33333bps. What might be causing this and is there some troubleshooting tips to get this connection back to where (46666bps) my computer was operating in a satisfactory way. Since this connection speed drop, pages and downloads have been much slower and sometimes my computer disconnects from the internet. How can I get the connection speed back up to where it was? (33333bps to 46666bps). Thanks for any suggestions. |

Such variation in dial-up connection speeds is normally down to the
quality of the phone line between your property and the exchange/central office or even the state of the wiring within your home. Depending on the age and condition of the wires many factors can be involved including even the state of the weather. In the vast majority of cases there is little you can do to reduce this fluctuation in speeds. Note also that with modern modems the actual connection speed can vary during the course of the connection, both up and down, whereas the speed reported is invariably that of the initial connection. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Dabeez wrote: Hi, I use the dialup method to connect, and have noticed a decrease in connection speed from 46666bps to 33333bps. Thanks for the insight, Mike.
I was curious why my connection was 46666bps for the past two years and all of a sudden it went to 33333bps. Thanks again. I will monitor this fluctuation for awhile longer.
