Why doe's win98se keep automatically reinstalling hardware
that I don't need and don't want. After I deleate something, the next time I start windows It puts it back.I'll start my computer and it will give me a message saying windows has found Glockenspiel, we are now installing. Then I'll get message like, After long hard search we have found Jimmy Hoffa, please insert disc.Meanwhile we have moved or deleated some things that you would find usefull if you want to stay on internet more than five minutes. Is this designed into windows? |

If you're serious about the events and names, you better run a full system virus
scan with fully up to date defs and preferably a DOS based one. It looks as if you've been hacked. Free from F-Prot, DOS based and new updated defs on same page: http://www.f-prot.com/products/home_use/dos/ -- Brian A. Jack of all trades, Master of none. Windows finds the physical hardware you've told device
manager to delete on every reboot... if you want to stop it then physically remove the hardware first or instead of removing it in device manager right click the item(s) and disable them instead... either way your problem is solved. You could have found the same information in the help file structure of your PC if you'd looked. -----Original Message----- Why doe's win98se keep automatically reinstalling hardware that I don't need and don't want. After I deleate something, the next time I start windows It puts it back.I'll start my computer and it will give me a message saying windows has found Glockenspiel, we are now installing.
