Are you getting a boot manager screen that shows 98 as being a system boot
choice? If not, just delete the 98 folder. -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo "Budalicious" wrote in message ... Yeah, first thing that comes up is a choice of which OS to boot into. Seems
the XP upgrade hasn't actually upgraded, it's just put a second OS on the same drive. Hmmmmm. That's why I'm concerned about just deleting the Windows folder, incase there are common locations, dlls etc. "Ron Badour" wrote: Are you getting a boot manager screen that shows 98 as being a system boot choice? It has created a dual boot--not an upgrade. While there should not be
common locations, .dlls, etc., I suggest you post into an XP newsgroup to get the best possible advice on getting rid of W98. I have not used the XP boot manager so I don't feel qualified to provide advice. In fact, I no longer dual boot--I run W98 in VirtualPC. -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo "Budalicious" wrote in message ... I suggest that you rename the Windows 98 folder to Oldwin or something
similar. If there are any shared files (I quite sure that there would not be in your case), then you will get an error when you attempt to run something that needs a file in this folder. If you do not get any errors after a period of time and you have run all of your usual programs, then delete the Win98 folder to free up the disk space.. There is no uninstall for Win98 in this situation. You can then edit the Windows XP boot menu and remove the reference to Win98. PattyL "Budalicious" wrote in message ... The procedures here will work to remove 98 and leave only XP:
