Uninvited search engine advertising on my toolbar

Default Uninvited search engine advertising on my toolbar

Somehow my toolbar (specifically the area underneath my
address window) has been infected with some random search
engine's advertising. I tried using AD-AWARE and Spy-Bot
to remove it but it won't go away. How can I get rid of
this?

Reboot to Safe Mode and run CWShredder - to remove what is almost certainly
a variant of the CoolWebSearch hijacker.
