Windows ME will not start or reinstall
I have Windows Me on a Toshiba Tecra 8100
I left computer powered on and battery went dead causing computer to crash. This has happened before without a problem but this time I can not start Windows Me. When I start computer the Windows startup screen displays and than it goes to dos and asks if I want to start normal or safe. Windows will not start in any mode, it just goes back to startup and than back to dos display asking for normal or safe startup. I tried to reinstall ME from original CD. Scandisk runs, setup initializes, scanning system registry, than I receive a standard mode: fault outside of ms-dos extender, Please remove any disks and press any key to restart system. This is as far as I can get. It than just restarts and again asks for choice of safe start or normal which wont work either. Any help on forcing a new install or how to remove windows without loosing other files. |
