Default Internet Explorer Script Error

Recently I updated my ME based computer with SP1 and since doing so I cannot
access my Control Panel, I can't scan for updates through Windows Update and
when Internet Explorer starts I get an error 30 that says that Internet
Explorer needs to restart and then it continues to restart only to give me
the same message again and restart again.....I can get in to my system
restore but its only a blank calender that appears .

System Restore blank calendar. What follows may help with solving this
problem.

KB 275646 - "System Restore Shows Date of Saturday, December 30, 1899"
(http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=275646) sets out what you need to do to
repair this damage - often caused by the injudicious use of an
incompatible
registry cleaner.

Either use the registry editor REGEDIT (Start | Run, enter Regedit in the
box
and click OK) or, somewhat easier,
Copy the grey area of text in KB 275646. Open notepad and paste in the
copied
text. Save to your desktop as a file named say FIX.REG. Now right click
on
the file FIX.REG and select Merge and this will then merge the contents of
the
file with the registry adding back any entries that have been deleted.
Hopefully that will then fix the problem.

I tried the things you mentioned but it didn't work. When I try to go into
system restore it says that an error has occured in this dialog , unspecified
error 30. When I connect to the internet and try to open Internet Explorer I
get the same error message and that Internet Explorer must close

Ok I got it. While digging a little further I found it referred to Mod
MSHMTL.DLL which did not get updated and was the wrong version. I installed
the correct version and all is well.

That's good news. I know it was not your main problem but does that mean
system restore is also now working?

So far it seems that it has cured all of my problems including system restore.
