Default Invalid System Disk on Fresh Install

I formatted my hard Drive and did a fresh install of Millenium.

I switched the harddrive to a new machine, disconnected 1 or 2 cd drives,
took out the sound drivers and lan and modem, just so that I have the basics
inside the tower.

I am using 256 ram, pc 100, a floppy and 1 cd drive

Now when I go to boot my system, it reads INVALID SYSTEM DISK - REPLACE THE
DISK, then press any key.

There is nothing but WINDOWS ME on the harddrive.

The floppy doesn't boot it.

The CD doesn't boot it.

The hard drive doesn't boot. What is wrong?

This HARDDRIVE works fine in my other computer. It boots great. everything
opens. But when I insert it back in the tower I want, I always get the
message INVALD SYSTEM DISK.

I've used the ME boot disk, I've used the CD and it still does not boot.

Pressing any key still gets me the same message.

The floppy doesn't boot it.

That is worrying and would suggest you have major hardware problems.
Until you can boot from your floppy disk it could be pointless in
continuing. Is it possible that you have connected the cable joining the
floppy to the motherboard incorrectly? Check the end where it plugs into
the floppy.

The CD doesn't boot it.

Is your Win Me CD bootable? Those produced by Microsoft were not although
it is possible that some OEM produced CDs were bootable.

Your hard disk. Is it jumpered correctly for the new machine?

Yes, the disk is jumpered correctly.

Yes, the CD rom is bootable.

The CD cable is connected.

My brother tells me that it might be the motherboard...however I can get
into BIOS settings, and when I insert my CD ROM floppy disk, I get the A: and
C: and D: prompts.

Windows Millenium however can not load, even though it is already installed.

It was installed on another computer as the ONLY harddrive. That HD was then
taken to this machine and placed as the ONLY harddrive. So I know that
Windows ME boots and it all functions good on the former desktop system.

Should I do a NEW INSATLL on the tower that I want to put the HARDDRIVE in?

Until you can boot your system from a floppy I feel there is little point
in continuing. Get that right and the rest should follow. However from
your comment it would appear that you can boot the PC using a bootable CD.

Personally I wouldn't reinstall the operating system until you can boot
from a floppy although you should note that having moved the hard disk
from a different set of hardware a complete wipe and reinstall would be
advisable given the motherboard has changed and it is quite likely that
the new motherboard and other hardware will require different drivers from
those that are currently installed. If you don't want to reinstall the
operating system, once you can boot the system using the Win Me hard disk
you should boot to Safe Mode, open the device manager and delete all
devices. Reboot and let Win Me detect your new hardware and install if
available the necessary drivers.
