Corrupt msvcp60.dll file - can't connect
I have a computer given to me, running Windows ME. It had
never been defragmented or updated (new in 2000). I've performed all the steps necessary to clean the machine and am ready to download updates. The problem is that when I try to connect to the internet, I receive the message that the msvcp60.dll file appears to be corrupt, to reinstall and try again. I have downloaded this file from different sites, copied it to CD on my #1 computer and copied it to c:\windows\system and to c:\windows\system32. However I still receive the message that the file appears to be corrupt. I have no CDs or floppy disks that come with the computer. Does anyone have any ideas how I could fix this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

You can replace msvcp60.dll with a new copy as follows:
Msvcp60.dll is contained in WIN_13.CAB of the Win Me cab set and can be restored using MSConfig | General | Extract File ... and following the prompts. The "cab" files are in the Win9x folder on the Win Me CD and also in either the C:\Windows\Options\Cabs or C:\Windows\Options\Install, which depends on the media from which Win Me was installed. See MS KB129605 - "HOW TO: Extract Original Compressed Windows Files" (http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=129605). --? Mike Maltby MS-MVP tdillon wrote: Anyone? |
