Canon SD1000 + Win98se
We have an old Win98se desktop that we still use to transfer files
and act as a main storage and print server for all the other WiFi XP laptops in the house. We have a new compact Canon SD1000 digital camera, but it will not function/open on Win98se via USB. We rarely install the "software bundle" and merely want the USB driver, so the camera opens as a USB "drive". This works fine for all the flash drives in the house, along with our old Olympus digital cameras via their USB cables. Anyone been able to access the Canon SD1000 using Win98se USB, without resorting to using an external card reader ? |

Canon digicams usually don't work as USB drives under Win98SE; typically, you must install the TWAIN or USB driver along with the software bundle (ZoomBrowser). My year-old SD700IS works fine with Win98SE with TWAIN+ZoomBrowser, so you may have to just install the software that came with the camera. - Alan |

But given how cheap external card readers are, why not spend the few bucks and solve your problem the easy way? -- --- Paul J. Gans |
