Default A suggestion

I suggest that when we want to reply a message, we delete the text of the
main message and write our reply in a clean page.

bad idea IMHO!
But I support the things that should be done: (but mostly not done!)
sniping the text on which the reply does not points & the reply should
be than Under the quoted text !
And if anyhow the reply is posted before (upper) the quoted text
(sometimes in long threads I like it that way), the quoted text should
not be more than few lines to avoid reader to have to scroll it down,
annoying in that case ...

.... and I suggest we *not* start this thread yet again. If you want to
know more, do a Google search on top-posting and/or bottom-posting.
You'll get about 10 billion hits spread through every news group there
is (and just about that many different opinions).

Quoting sections of the previous message is pretty basic to newsgroup
messaging. Most people who are active in many, sometimes high-traffic,
groups would consider it essential in order to follow various threads.
In fact it can be quite confusing and thus annoying when people don't
quote.

Unfortunately, it has led to massive over-quoting as many (most?)
people can't be bothered to edit the quote down to the essential part
but simply quote the whole thing. The next person does the same
including all previous quotes and the next person, and the next person
...... and so on.

I think it is this over-quoting which is probably at the root of your
concern.
