Default CD ROM activation

I get error message "F:\ is not accessible. Device is not
ready". "F" is the CD ROM drive and used to work well. How
shall I get it back to work?

Confirm that the drive is still working by installing it in another machine.
In Device manager delete the CD-ROM device and allow Windows to install a
replacement device driver.
