PCHealth

I have a task in my Task Scheduler Folder called PCHealth. I don't know what
it does. I tried searching for it in the help file on the Start Menu, but
it's not there.

Can anyone help me find out what this program is and whether I need it?

PCHealth is part of Windows ME - try looking in Help &Support! (which is
itself part of the PCHealth system)

Note however that what you're seeing in the Scheduler is about the one piece
of PCHealth that can (and probably should) be disabled on every machine with
no ill effects - the Data Collection scheduler.
To disable it properly, you need to both disable or delete the entry in the
Task Scheduler, AND uncheck the corresponding entry in the MSCONFIG|Startup
listing (PCHSchd.exe)

Effectively the Data Collection system scans your PC once every 10 minutes,
and records certain details. This may be of use to certain highly-trained
techies, but it's for sure that no-one outside MS is ever likely to request
such data, and it's indecipherable to the likes of thee and me!!

disabling the task in both places as you suggested.

"PCHealth" in the Help&Support window. If you try it, you may be surprised.
