Recently purchased a new computer with Vista Home Premium SP1. Have both old
& new on line via a router. Want to move files (My Documents) including
Outlook Express (not application) to the new computer. As i read about easy
transfer in Vista, apparently doesn't support ME. i'm just a general type
computer user, not real savvy.

Windows Vista comes with an email client called, "Windows Mail". There is a
support group for Windows Mail:

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windows.vista.mai l&cat=en_US_9CA88DDB-D18D-FA0E-A366-6E527B0FBA67&lang=en&cr=US

Perhaps somebody there can help.

It is possible to copy the files directly across the network - but not
recommended, as it tends to be slow
easiest (depending on how much data there is) is to use a USB drive and copy
the data to that, then to the new PC - put everything into a subfolder of
the Documents folder.
Second easiest is to burn the data to CD/DVD and then copy that to the Vista
system
Note that your OE data resides in the Windows folder, rather than in the
User data (only MS knows why!) - so you'll have to either
1) search the drive for the *.dbx files that OE uses, copy them to CD, and
then IMPORT them to Windows Mail in Vista, then use the export function of
OE to export the accounts to a folder, and again IMPORT them to WinMail
or
2) Use the Tools|Options|Maintenance to find the whereabouts of the archive
for each account, and then copy them to disk.... etc

Note also that some other programs store data outside the My Documents
hierarchy - you'll need to search for those, and deal with them.

HTH - post back if you need more - and good luck
