Default Millenium Edition & Gateway Select

I have a Gateway Select with Millemium Edition. Lately it freezes/locks up rather consistently. I have spoken to another Gateway/Millenium user who has similar results.

Is there any remedy for this situation or am I forced to look at purchasing Windows XP?
