3 split monitor screen
leemsbbe, are the 'split screens' separate as though they were tiled? Or
just three sets of 'non-overlapping' images. Certainly an intriguing description. Although not usually encouraged on the News Groups, a screen shot .jpg would be interesting. However if it is in fact a Monitor problem then your screen capture (PrtSc) would be 'normal' anyway g Can you take a photo of it? Mart "leemsbbe" wrote in message ... The 3 images are of the same colour, in fact identical to each other. Will see if it works on other pc if I get the chance..... thanks "Mike M" wrote: Are the three images different colours? In which case this would suggest the guns are out of alignment on the monitor. Since you've now demonstrated the problem is with the monitor it looks like now's the time for a shopping trip, either that or a visit to eBay. g -- Mike Maltby leemsbbe wrote: Resolution is at 800x600 and 256 colours. Split screen does not exist when I use a different monitor, so I guess it is save to assume that the monitor is the problem. Will try to confirm it with other pc. ......thanks |

All very peculiar since you said earlier that using another monitor you weren't seeing the problem. Nothing really to add to Mart's comments. :-( -- Mike Maltby |

3 split monitor screen
Got the opportunity and connect the monitor into my friend's old Compaq and
it works beautifully, without any necessary adjustment etc. I noticed that upon boot (normal) up, it stated that MUP401 (something like that) not loaded whatever that means. So I guess this old monitor works only its its kind, old pc........or is there any other factpr that could affect the split screen..... thanks "Mike M" wrote: leemsbbe wrote: The 3 images are of the same colour, in fact identical to each other. 3 split monitor screen
leemsbbe, in an earlier reply you stated :-
In Safe Mode, I can change the resaolution and colours. Are you certain that you were in Safe Mode? Did it say "Safe Mode" in each corner of the screen? As far as I am aware, the ONLY WinMe 'Safe Mode' screen resolution that can be achieved is 640 x 480 at 16 colours and this is by 'design' for troubleshooting purposes. (But I may be wrong!) Can you confirm that the screen is 'normal' in Safe Mode - i.e. not split. I suspect that your 'split screen' is pointing back to a video driver issue. BTW - can you take a photo of your 'split screen', as I requested earlier? ... I noticed that upon boot (normal) up, it stated that MUP401 (something like that) not loaded whatever that means MPU401 is associated with (old, pre-WinMe) sound cards and shouldn't (normally) affect your video card. However, If you are saying that this error report is happening on YOUR pc, then it also seems like your sound card drivers aren't correctly installed either. However, I'm beginning to run out of ideas and as your Recovery CD's are OEM (Compiled and supplied by Dell) and are not Microsoft's Retail variety, I suggest you try to get help directly from Dell's Technical Support :- http://search.dell.com/index.aspx?s=...alse&cat= sup Mart "leemsbbe" wrote in message ... 3 split monitor screen
How all very peculiar.
To summarise. Using the monitor on another PC it works without problem so the monitor is OK (today's post) Using another monitor with the PC shows no problem so it isn't the PC (post on 10 August) Updating the drivers doesn't help. The reference you make to MUP401 sounds as if the drivers fro your sound card might need reinstalling as MPU401 relates I think to the midi interface. MPU (rather then MUP) stands for Midi Processing Unit and is a feature of Roland and SoundBlaster sound cards. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Windows leemsbbe wrote: Got the opportunity and connect the monitor into my friend's old Compaq and it works beautifully, without any necessary adjustment etc. I noticed that upon boot (normal) up, it stated that MUP401 (something like that) not loaded whatever that means. Yes, I am certain that I am in SM as the word "SM" are at the four corners of
the screen. As the monitor is at my friends place, I am not certain whether they are at all the 4 corners of each split screen (making a total of 12 'SM') or just 4 'SM' of the monitor. So in 'SM' the screen is also not 'normal' in appearance. You are right, it should read as "MPU401 is diabled. Game port is diabled' This report is using the monitor and Compaq At the moment, I am unable to take a picture of the split screen but will do when I get the chance. quote n unquote :- How all very peculiar. To summarise. Using the monitor on another PC it works without problem so the monitor is OK (today's post) - Yes, except I get he MPU401 message stated earlier) Using another monitor with the PC shows no problem so it isn't the PC (post on 10 August) -Yes thats correct. ..... do you think it has something to do with the Bios ?? thanks for your time. 3 split monitor screen
To further summarise :-
1) Original (Dell) monitor works ok on another (Compaq) pc 2) Another (Compaq) monitor works ok on original (Dell) pc 3) Original (Dell) monitor AND original (Dell) pc, the '3 split screens' appear *even in Safe Mode*. .... do you think it has something to do with the Bios ?? Under normal circumstances, I would have said no - but this one has got me completely baffled. No idea!! I would still be very interested to see a screen shot (photo) You are right, it should read as "MPU401 is diabled. Game port is diabled' This report is using the monitor and Compaq Let's just stick to one pc at time g Mart "leemsbbe" wrote in message ...
