Right-clicking, etc. attempts to connecting to Internet
I've been trying to solve this problem for months with no luck. Any help
would be appreciated. Here it goes: Anytime I right-click (alternate-click) a file or icon, the right-click menu takes 20 - 30 seconds to appear and I notice that the Internet is being queried. This also happens when I have an Explorer window open and I left-click on the "File" menu. I'm using a 56K dial-up connection that is not always connected so this is extremely frustrating. I'm running Windows ME. I have Zone Alarm Pro and Norton SystemWorks 2003 loaded but can't find any info on their web sites to indicate that they may be the problem. My virus defs are up to date and I've also run AdAware 6 and Spybot-Search & Destroy and have found nothing. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks |

This sounds a lot like the foul up the January 7-8 Nortons AV certificate problem caused on almost everyone's system, except that I'd have assumed you'd have fixed that way WAY back then. - Bill |
