Might be worth noting that "et al" is using Mozilla T-Bird. And I
don't *think* there are any images of any kind attached. What I see
is the following text. Do you see all of what I see, or is some of
the text replaced by the red X?

For this sidetopic, it may :-) or may not :-( help if you install
'Windows Installer 2.00.2600.0002(ANSI) Engine'[1] on it's own before
running the newer Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installers. Either
way
it shouldn't hurt anything.

The post of et al "...et al" earlier in this thread shows two of

the images are always blocked it sounds harmless to me, but I agree
that when you have OE set up to display in plain text and instead
you get blocked
images, that is strange.

Look at the message source.
I do not post and you don't receive any graphics. All there is, is
that Outlook Express, and Thunderbird too, recognizes a few
text-sequences as emoticons and replaces them with internal
icons-graphics for the users (benefit?). A cursory look in OE's
options don't show any obvious way to change this behaviour, but in
Thunderbird's option there is a checkbox
for 'Display emoticons as graphics' under 'When displaying plain text
messages' (at least in the ancient version i'm still using).

You asked for one or the other, but i was feeling exceptionally
generous
and gave you one of each in the post quoted above.

But i see i must cease and desist in the use one of them.

Yeah, right! :-(

He should simply license his frowny, set up frowny activation tied to the
computer hardware, and institute FGA - Frowny Genuine
Advantage - to keep his licencees in line.

As a patent holder I can tell you that the USPTO is &%$#ed up beyond belief.
It's basically a sandbox for large corporations, you-know-who foremost among
them, and individual gamers of the system.

Long ago a once-local basketball coach around here here managed to get
himself an NBA head coaching job after finishing fourth nationally, so you
know he was a smooth talker. His biggest claim to fame was "inventing" a
play on the word repeat, "threepeat". At first you heard it spoken on TV
sports and saw it in print. But he had had it trademarked, so that was the
end of that, and I probably should have cleared it with my attorney, who I
understand is walking on the beach in a warm place, before I posted it.

Outlook Express does not convert text emoticons to graphics. Not that I've
ever seen, anyway. Only thing I can think of is if the original was composed
in HTML and the option to "Read all messages in PT" is disabled. The
behavior when reading in PT *does* suggest an attached graphic or link, but
you're right, your message source doesn't show any such thing.

On the other hand, if there was anything like Incredimail ever installed on
the system, then all bets are off.

Looks like they credit threepeat to Pat Riley. OK. Privatization of English
no less offensive however.
hmmm...."Privatization of English". You know, that has a ring to it.....

Oh, ok. Like you don't use Thunderbird, i don't use Outlook Express, and
only based on how things were described made a leap of faith that it
worked similarly in the two. Seemed probable, but was an ASSumtion then.
