WindowsMe is based on the Windows 95/98 operating system, Windows 2000 is
based on the Windows NT operating system. They are not even remotely the
same.

Win2K is more of a corporate Operating System. Win2K is in the family called Windows NT.
This family holds; NT4 (which is now a dead OS), Win2K, WinXP and Win2003 Server.

WinME is in a different family. That family holds Win95, Win98 and WinME where WinME was
the last of that family.

The two use CPU Registers different and have distinctly different memory models. Win9x/ME
were specifically designed to be backward compatible with DOS and DOS applications and use
DOS interrupts in its programming structure. The NT family emulates DOS and is not based on
DOS nor meant to be backward compatible to DOS.
