What do you mean, you "cannot find" it?

cant find installed dx 9b (win98 se)
Did you reinstall over the current installation, or format and do a fresh install?
How are you determining what version of DirectX you have at any given moment during this procedure, or are you just guessing? What "icon" are you expecting to find? Have you done as I said, and run DXDIAG to determine the version of DirectX and if there are any problems? That's the only way you will get the info you need all the files involved. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "dpnt9.aol.com" wrote in message ... hi I had dx9b. hi
yes i re-installed over the current instalation, and yes i ran the DXDIAG and it says version 4 is active. the 9b is a lighter icon than the older ones. problems: the video quality isn't as good as it was, in Real some songs wont play, the microphone doesn't work, and all the music test fail in v4. thx n avnc ec -----Original Message----- Did you reinstall over the current installation, or format and do a fresh install? cant find installed dx 9b (win98 se)
Where does it say version 4, in DXDIAG?
Run DXDIAG, look on the first screen (System) and it has a line at or near the bottom that says DirectX Version. Here, I have - Direct X Version: DirectX 9.0b (4.09.0000.0902) The version number 4.09.0000.0902 does not mean DirectX 4, it means DirectX 9 If the music tests fail, you may need to update your audio drivers. Again I ask: what icon are you talking about, and what does it have to do with anything? -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm " wrote in message ... hi yes i re-installed over the current instalation, and yes i ran the DXDIAG and it says version 4 is active. the 9b is a lighter icon than the older ones. problems: the video quality isn't as good as it was, in Real some songs wont play, the microphone doesn't work, and all the music test fail in v4. thx n avnc ec -----Original Message----- Did you reinstall over the current installation, or format and do a fresh install? cant find installed dx 9b (win98 se)
hi
one other thing, i get a error message from the update center saying my time and date is wrong. but they are right, they mention installing ms messenger, i dont want to because it to big for my memory. i removed the check under ie properites for check for pub. revoc. and it still doesnt work. the 9b dx the system must be updating because the files are chaning there is v.4,5,6,8,9. i download from the ms download. i did some script and library updates from the download center and ie updates so i think it may be working, the ie error message is gone when shutting down. i do beta testing for a internet co. and i did a update today also so i think its recovering. i do the 9b again and see. thx agn ec -----Original Message----- That's what it indicates...DX6 You say you are not able to install DX9? cant find installed dx 9b (win98 se)
Once DirectX 9.0b is installed, it's installed. You don't have to keep installing
it. When you look at file version numbers in DXDIAG, there will be some files that are earlier....that is normal. I don't know where you are seeing in Windows Update that you should install MS Messenger....it is not an update, and there is no reason to install it. Your time and date may be correct, but check that you also have the correct time zone selected. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "dpnt" wrote in message ... hi one other thing, i get a error message from the update center saying my time and date is wrong. but they are right, they mention installing ms messenger, i dont want to because it to big for my memory. i removed the check under ie properites for check for pub. revoc. and it still doesnt work. the 9b dx the system must be updating because the files are chaning there is v.4,5,6,8,9. i download from the ms download. i did some script and library updates from the download center and ie updates so i think it may be working, the ie error message is gone when shutting down. i do beta testing for a internet co. and i did a update today also so i think its recovering. i do the 9b again and see. thx agn ec -----Original Message----- That's what it indicates...DX6 You say you are not able to install DX9?
