"service profile is damaged" comes up 8,280 times at Google Groups. Look
for something sensible, & post back any further questions.

Thanks or Good Luck,
There may be humor in this post, and,

Default Damaged Service Profile

If you are using MSN, uninstall it from Add\Remove Programs, and then reinstall it.

Please note that besides MSN, there are other dialers and connection managers that
can also cause the error....see here for an example -
http://ftp.cac.psu.edu/access/cd/win...p/psudlw2k.htm

If you do not use MSN:
-Remove MSN in ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS in the Control Panel, if it is there.
-Open Regedit (StartRunRegedit)
-Browse to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Connection Manager
-Right Click on the Connection Manager key and delete it.
